GRUMPY OLD BASTARD

A little bit ago I took one of those facebook quizzes that supposedly tells you something about yourself, or categorizes or baffles. There is no way the tests can be "scientific." It's pop fun. And that's the spirit I see it in. This one was what kind of an old person you will  be. Some of the questions don't have an answer in the multiple choice selection that I can affirm having to do with me, so I click on anything. This does, however, account for the unknown, which encases everything. Naturally, I got, "Grumpy next door neighbor." It rang so true I had to laugh. I emailed my next door neighbor, Allan, telling him to get ready. I've felt aggressively grumpy in the mind ever since. Looking at various posts on facebook, one of the anti-fascist sites I get memes, articles and cartoons from was saying Sarah Palin said at an NRA gathering she's all for baptizing terrorists by water-boarding. The darling of stupid white men. I started cussing a streak a mile long, out of patience with her public monotony so full of pride and so blatantly ignorant, the superstar of stupid. A bunch of white men pay her a few hundred thousand to talk dirty to them and blow smoke up their asses. The face of police state. I tell myself over and over to let it go, don't fill my mind with other people's stupid. It's a nuisance to see her spacy eyes, somebody who takes clichés for reality. I think I'm still reeling from the disappointment of growing up and seeing what I learned in school about USA and democracy and the supreme court and patriotism was all bunk. It's not anything like we're taught. Not anything like television points out. I've come to see our history as propaganda---the winners of wars write the history books---and what we had in the name of democracy became popular police state, patriotic police state. Hooray for 31,000 gun deaths a year. Hooray for corporate prisons. Hooray for beating the shit out of college students, pepper spray in their eyes in the name of The Law for practicing their constitutional responsibility to protest.

I can't stop laughing at the flag waver in Nevada claiming he does not recognize the US Govt. Maybe somebody needs to tell him he's carrying flag of a non-existent country. He said he recognizes Nevada law, so why isn't he carrying a Nevada flag? Maybe because nobody will know what it is? Not dramatic enough? Requires explanation? It makes me crazy that so much is made of him as a "racist" and a "terrorist." Why not just call it like it is: ignorant. Add a whole lot of ego to a whole lot of ignorance and he's what happens. The part that makes him interesting to me is that he is so perfectly the part White Man. He's a cliché of himself. His ignorance is specifically white man ignorance. He'd make a good movie, though he's on tv enough now a movie could be made from the news clips featuring him. He may be featured along with Palin at NRA rallies to blow smoke up white man's ass. Is he the next American face of ignorance? This list of the many faces is so long by now, he'll fade out of sight. Won't he hate that. Republicans have exploited the popular appeal of ignorance, which has worked very well for them. The party has a case before the Supremes requesting legalization of lying in political campaigns. It's the same as done. I can see it passing, 7 to 2. Political campaigns amount to television commercials now, devoid of substance as a sleeping pill commercial. Talking with a woman I know in the coffee shop, she said, "I'm a con-SER-vative!" I could only think: You embarrass yourself. She said, "What are you?" I knew exactly the gossip circle my answer would be reported to within the hour, and said, "Socialist." I said it to see her jump, but she didn't jump. She looked at me with a glance that said she already knew it. The conservative / liberal divide right now purports volumes of ideologies, but they boil down quite simply to conservative: not caring, and liberal: caring. It's been that way all my life. In the Sixties it was called hawks and doves. Now it's conservatives and liberals, words totally meaningless.

I remember when Ralph Nader gave his support to the republican coup by judicial fiat saying, the republicans will get us there faster. He meant police state. He's been seeing it come on for several years, since before Nixon times. He saw that both parties, two wings of the Business Party, were marching us into police state, consciously with intent. The democrats are slower taking us into police state. Nader wanted to get on with it. Sooner it starts, the quicker it will be over, or so it looked from there and then to his perspective. I have an idea he was mistaken in his thinking that the American people would have a new revolution. Don't count on it. Maybe a civil war, but no revolution. It is a third-world truth that whoever rules the television stations rules the country. Liberals do not rule USA. Even MSNBC is not liberal. Television has become the beloved propagandist in our midst. It has become the authority, sacred. And I feel very uncomfortable in a world where television is sacred. I've never been comfortable in television world. They talk about red states and blue states in terms of absolutes, like NC a predictably red Southern state, I can live in a red state as well as a blue state. Either side is in relation to television. They are just participating in television. I avoid political talk with everyone, even liberals. Liberals disappoint me when they show parrotry like the republicans. I'm ashamed to identify liberal, so I don't. I am a socialist. It's a scary word to television viewers. Nobody knows what it means because it does not get explained on television. On tv, the only thing it means is enemy. I can go with that. The Lakota tribe of plains Indians became known as the Sioux, their word for enemy. They liked being called the Enemy and adopted the name. A constant reminder to them that they are indeed the enemy. Q: What tribe you from, boy? A: The Enemy.

I, myself, have never been the enemy of ways American. They are my own. I saw an article about something like 3,000 people expatriating from USA last year. I gave it some thought in the distant past, never seriously with intent, weighed the benefits and deficits, just a subject to think about. Where would I go? Wherever I might go from New Zealand to Turkey, I'd be "The American." Here, on Waterfall Road, I am an American, but not The American. Problem of being The American would be in getting taken for an apologist for American foreign policy, domestic policy. It would always be, "your people." I'd be called upon to answer why gun stores sell out all over the country the day after a schoolhouse massacre. At home, I'm not expected to be a branch of the State Dept. I would be asked to explain American policy, the supreme court, none of which I even care to think about, certainly not be taken for a representative of. Asked, How do Americans like police state? I could only answer, They love it. Television politics has become the same as television sports, commercials, another television event. I find it curious American democracy went away, like the Ottoman Empire, without a whimper. A very few noticed. The ones that noticed knew it was a fake democracy anyway, so nobody is beating the drum over democracy gone. Makes me wonder if capitalism will fall away like democracy did, television pretending it continues, the television viewer slow to catch on. Possibly this is the nature of transition from one Age to another, from the Age of Fire to the Age of Electricity. There is more to it than the light bulb instead of whale oil lamp. It is a natural process we go through collectively. It is bigger than the participants that keep it going, like the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We focus on the people that keep the belief system going, judge them with praise or blame, missing that it is a process of change, the players filling roles like on a stage.

HOODWINKED

Can't help but laugh today at the two "senators," Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, seen with Sarah Palin at a rally of men angry about national park monuments closed. The two so-called senators were drawing attention to themselves in protest against the government for shutting down. These were the republican tools that created the situation, first degree, with pre-meditated intent in the service of the pipeline billionaires funneling money to republican politicians to make chaos of our democracy, sweep it out of the way for a one-party police state. And the white-haired republican telling the woman working for park service to be ashamed of herself for closing the WW2 memorial. It is beyond redundant to note he was one of the lockstep marionettes that created the situation. The monkeys didn't even know what they did. Cruz's ignorance is popular among republicans. He's the only one considered for a presidential run. He will lose worse than McCain-Palin. This is the Reaganista generation. Dan Quayle was just the beginning. It is alarming to see that these knuckleheads are popular. Even Romney. They could run him again next time as VP with Cruz. These people are showing us that money does not equal intelligence. They are showing us that money equals self-centered ego. Their public spectacle of ignorance makes everybody not a republican laugh. The people of Europe must be considering ways to separate themselves from associations with the American stooges. They are empirical evidence of the dumbing down of America.

Why do I go on concerning myself with these two-dimensional cardboard cut-outs from the dark side? Maybe it's for the drama. The dark side makes good drama. Everything they say is spoken with intent to deceive. Their own personal lives are deceptions too. They lie as freely as somebody else eats potato chips. They don't even respond when called on their lies. Good training from Karl Rove. The pathological lying a Rove signature. This so-called government shut-down is looking more every day like a coup. The republican politicians who cheered the shut-down are obviously not in the market for votes. They're evidently being paid so well by Koch brothers' under the table methods, their loyalty is set. The republican party has abandoned its voters. Of course they would in a police state coup. Who knows how that will manifest? It's weird and getting weirder. The weirdest part is knowing this is planned strategy. This is a takeover of our government by white man. In white man way of thinking, he's taking it back. It's looking bad for a 2014 election. The American Empire is over. From here on, we'll be watching it fall apart. We've been seeing it fall apart over the last 30+ years, the time of the Reagan Revolution, another name for the decline and fall of the American Empire. The downhill run is gaining momentum.

American politics has always been corrupt, crooked and about money only. We the people are the last consideration, not even that. We are the masses to be manipulated by the best propaganda that's ever been in this world. The expanse of American people are plugged into propaganda central, so used to being told what to do by way of subliminal symbols, it's pointless to speak to somebody who believes television is the truth. My mother, "I know it for a fact. I heard it on television." It made my heart ache for her. At the same time, I can't help but think so what if she's hoodwinked. I'm hoodwinked too. I have a different version of reality than she does, but mine is illusion too. So what if I'm right and she's wrong; so what if she's right and I'm wrong. It's the same either way. Nothing. Responding to illusion in our own karmic ways makes for very complex human behavior. The stuff of the forebrain, trying to figure out abstractions, connecting the dots to make constellations in the sky called the heavens. Where we go when we die. Another star in the firmament. In Neolithic times, I imagine the stars in the sky at night were thick. I have seen a few nights where the starlight was so bright I could see without a moon. I'm of the illusion that paying attention to the current events I'll have a better understanding than otherwise. I still believe I do. But don't want to give too much attention to it. Am wanting now to withdraw my attention from it. But won't. It's like paying attention to weather forecasts.

HANDS OFF IN TEXAS

All of a sudden, half the population of Texas is criminalized, the male half. Masturbation has raised its ante from sin to crime. Two years in prison for it. What's a cowboy gonna do? Gives new meaning to "The eyes of Texas are upon you." Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. Texans are also Americans (sorta), so I suppose the new law will be observed the way we Americans observe the law, don't get caught. Better not be suspected of it either. Like WC Fields might say, Where there's smoke there's fire, boys. Boy Scouts is now a criminal organization in Texas. Will it be the scoutmaster's duty to listen at the tents on field trips in the night? Will boys rat on each other or make it up about somebody? "He beat off. I heard him do it." Will Texas make concentration camps for teenage boys with dormitory lights turned on all night? No, it won't do any of that. When a population becomes criminalized, they turn into a unit unto themselves with a code where nobody rats on anybody. The boys and men of Texas will soon have the criminal code among themselves where rats die. It kinda puts preachers, prosecutors and judges in a position of hypocrisy too, as well as the entire state legislature, given a few intelligent exceptions, women. Them too. The state of Texas is officially a prison. Everybody in the state is a criminal. Australia started as a criminal colony and Texas has evolved (the E word in Texas) into a criminal colony.

The Dixie Chicks come to mind saying at a show in London they were ashamed of being from the same state W Bush was from. The Bush administration of epic scoundrels shut them off the corporate media. Their cds sold all the more and their concerts sold out. I also can see that half the population of Texas is embarrassed by the republican chicanery going on there in full control. Police state is not about majority control, but controlling the majority. Wendy Davis, the woman who kept the filibuster going vs Rick Perry, is now elevated to a degree of respect. She's being pointed at as potential candidate for governor. Obama won his presidency because he was the only democrat who voted against going into Iraq. That elevated him to president. Hilary voting for the invasion was a bleep in her campaign. She let down a great portion of her fan base when she went along with the Bush Junta. She lost my attention altogether. She did it for political expediency and it bit her in the ass. The republicans would likely be more vicious to Hilary than they are to Obama. And Dufus Sarah Palin is back. Now she's quitting the republican party cause it aint dumb enough to her satisfaction. Alaska must not have been dumb enough either. Nor Faux news. She represents us to the rest of the world. They look on and laugh. We non-parrots in America look on and weep. Weep because our country we grew up singing Tis Of Thee over, and want to believe in, has gone to shit before our eyes. We know how and we know why. We know we didn't do it. We know there's nothing we can do about it. Obama has shown us for sure by now that he is not on the side of We The People. The black people have known he was not with them from soon after he started.

That's it for the review of the news as comedy. Maybe I'm paying too much attention to Jon Stewart and Bill Maher. More than likely not enough. They keep me laughing better than any sitcom. They are slap-stick. How else can a day's news be looked at over the last thirty-three years? We don't need Faux news to make it even more ridiculous unto overkill. A few times I've set out to look at a Faux news clip for humor and turn it off every time before the first minute is up. The steady stream of arrogance turns me off right away and the bullshit finishes me off. Can't even listen to their voices. An entire tv network that is openly racist on the one hand, and on the other, a business woman who said nigger 27 years ago is crucified without any regard for freedom of speech, innocent until proven guilty, etc. The most racist nation on earth convicting by way of scandal a Southern woman for saying nigger. What else can we call this but comedy? The comedy of stupid, like Jackass the movie. An openly racist supreme court, no problem. I use the nigger word here in defiance of bullshit correctness, parrotry to television. I'm sympathetic with the black cause and I know they don't give a rat's ass. They call me a white emeffer and the C-word, cracker. Nobody comes down on them. Reverse racism is ok. None of that matters at all. I use the word because I'm told not to for reasons I see are bullshit. I use it knowing it is a key word for instant scanning of online documents, like bomb.

The movie Brazil is the image in my mind for police state. It's not about the country Brazil. It happens in the UK. In the beginning, a man and woman in recliners in their flat watching the telly. A chainsaw cuts a circle in the ceiling, a swat team drops down, binds the man and hauls him out. Whoops. Wrong address. Oh well. Let's get on with it. I must see it again soon. As far as I can see, everything we're told by government and media is false, so predictably that when they tell us something straight up we take it for a smoke screen. All through my lifetime the American people have been called sheep in cartoons and editorials. I used to see the sheep grazing in meadows. Now I see the sheep at the stockyards herded and lined up for their last breath, praising and thanking Jesus for keeping Texas free from masturbation. Masturbation amounts to pre-emptive abortion there. If they can't stop abortions, they'll stop them before they start, forbidding men to spill their seed on the ground or into the toilet, whichever. Abortion of the sperm cell. Too ludicrous to even mention, really. The absurdity is that it's a nineteenth century law in 2013. 2001 is in the past and we're drifting into super-imposed poverty throughout the once prosperous land since the Bank took our resources and control. Our powerlessness is expressed through vampire and zombie movies like in the 1950s during the Eisenhower recessions. At least in this time we're able to see the comedy too, somewhat.
